Muntons the Stowmarket based malted ingredients manufacturer has been developing recipes using their malted ingredients in their Centre for Excellence for some years. Now they have made these recipes available to consumers through their website.
Malt extract has been used within the commercial food and beverage industry for many years, where it is used for a wide variety of reasons to improve the quality of foods and beverages. Yet it is largely an undiscovered ingredient in the home. The malt based recipes that are now available take the consumer through the cooking process with their simple-to-make recipes and introduce the beauty of malt into the home arena.
From their exotically named ‘Quadruple malted cheesecake’ to a simple steak and ale pie or a refreshing chilled malted milk shake, these recipes showcase the range of benefits that the addition of a little malt can make.
Muntons has made the process of accessing their recipes simple. Go to their website, Muntons.com, and click on the ‘cook with Muntons icon. This takes you through to forty recipes sortable by category making it easy to find a recipe that suits. The recipes are downloadable as a pdf and printable making them simple to collect.
Richard Platt, Muntons Applications & NPD Technologist, commented “It has been a pleasure developing these recipes and being able to share them. Each one has been tasted against a non-malted version to clearly identify the benefits that the addition of malt has brought.”
Whilst Muntons do not sell their products directly to the consumer they were keen to point out that malt extract is available through health food stores and pharmacists.
