Over the past couple of years home brewing has seen a market upturn as people are taking up the hobby for the first time (and for some the second time), some to save money, others looking for a satisfying and rewarding new hobby.
Brewery developed and branded beer-making kits have traditionally been very popular with home beer makers, as they generate a great sense of satisfaction – making a well known beer at home as good as the pint bought down the pub. With this in mind St Peter’s are working together with Muntons, the maltsters and beer kit makers to develop their very own range of beer kits.
The introduction of the St Peter’s Ruby Red beer kit last year was heralded as a great success and after much pressure from the happy homebrewers the next beer has now been signed off by the brewery – St Peter’s IPA.
This new 32 pint kit offers a full bodied pale ale with a zesty character at approximately 5.5% ABV. This new kit is now available from local homebrew retailers.
Work continues on other variants and these will be added to the St Peter’s range as soon as they are approved by the brewer. The headquarters of Muntons plc is based in the county of Suffolk on the outskirts of the market town of Stowmarket, strategically located near to their main raw material, premium quality malting barley. Each year Muntons headquarters produces in excess of 70,000 tonnes of malt and 30,000 tonnes of malt based extracts. They have the capacity to manufacture 6,000 tonnes of Band and Spray dried extract per year and supply over 3,000 tonnes of products into the home beer and wine making markets. They also have a 10,000 tonne malt flour milling and malted cereal flaking operation.
The St Peter’s Brewery Company is based at St Peter, South Elmham, near Bungay in Suffolk. The brewery itself was built in 1996 is housed in an attractive range of traditional former agricultural buildings adjacent to St. Peter’s Hall.
