Two apprentices based at Muntons in Stowmarket have achieved their Level 2 Professional Cookery and Hospitality Team Member in Food Preparation qualifications.
Charlie Duffy and Hannah Fayers started working at Muntons Stowmarket in September 2016 as food production apprentices in a scheme jointly funded and managed by Churchill Catering and Muntons. Working in a rotating pattern between Muntons New Product Development facility, their Centre for Excellence, and in the canteen facility at the Stowmarket site, Hannah and Charlie have benefitted from a wide range of food production and catering experiences.
The skills gained through working with Muntons and Churchill catering range from involvement in recipe development featured in the local press, learning about food photography and copywriting, the production of product samples for trade shows in Europe and America.
Richard Platt, Muntons NPD and Applications Technologist, said: “When our two new apprentices arrived, they seemed very shy but showed a real willingness to learn. They leave as highly employable confident young women, with strong views of what they want to do going forwards. I have no doubt they will go far in their future endeavours and has been a pleasure working with them.”
Churchill Catering report that they are very proud of the longstanding and successful relationship they have with Muntons Malt, Stowmarket and are pleased to have been able to work alongside them in providing an apprenticeship scheme which sees Charlie Duffy and Hannah Fayers achieve Level 2 Professional Cookery and Hospitality Team Member in Food Preparation in courses run by the West Suffolk College.
Stuart Nicholl, Head of Churchill Catering said “We are very proud of Charlie and Hannah on completing their apprenticeships, it has been a pleasure to support them on their journey and we wish Hannah every success in her new business and look forward to continuing to work with Charlie at our local sites”
Charlie commented: “In my apprenticeship have developed skills in Catering and product development as well as confidence in myself that I know I wouldn’t have done through traditional college routes.” Hannah added “it has been a pleasure to have had the opportunity to be part of such a positive team of people.”
