Brew Courage Directors at home with Munton’s new kit
Muntons, suppliers of ingredients to the brewing trade since Victorian times and longstanding producers of some of the greatest homebrew kits, have worked closely with Charles Wells, longstanding brewers of the iconic traditional ale Courage Directors to come up with a new kit that means you can produce the beer’s great taste yourself, at home.
“Muntons have done a fantastic job at getting the real taste of Courage Directors, a taste known to discerning drinkers for many years, into a home brew kit,” says Emily Hudson, Brand Manager for English Ales at Charles Wells.
Distinctly superior by name and nature, Courage Directors was originally brewed exclusively for the directors of the Alton brewery until demand decreed this most distinguished of beverages was also made available to the rank and file. “A good job too,” says Emily Hudson. “The ruling class knew just what they were doing when they tried to keep this classic ale to themselves.”
A rich, chestnut hued, full-bodied brew boasting a clean, bitter taste balanced with burnt, orange peel notes and a dry-hop aroma and flavour, Directors is today as rightly popular across the entire country as it is in its native London heartlands.
“This is the perfect time to be launching a new home brew kit with a name that beer lovers know well and trust,” says Joanna Perry, Marketing and Creative Manager at Muntons. “Interest in craft beers has never been higher and more and more people want to experience the taste of great beer at home.”
“If you’re new to home brewing, this new kit means now’s the time to try it,” she says. “It gives you everything you need, making the whole process of producing a perfect pint of Courage Directors utterly simple.”
There’s plenty of support. “We can provide advice for anyone who’s not sure how to go about it,” she says. “The kits will be sold through 250 outlets who are all ready to answer your questions and provide any ancillary equipment or ingredients you might want. If you like, the kit gives you the flexibly to tweak the final result according to your own taste.”
Munton’s asked homebrewers what beer they’d really like to brew in an ideal world. Courage Directors was their top choice. “It’s great to be able to give home brew enthusiasts old and new the beer they really want says Joanna Perry. “And when they tried it, all agreed, the new kit really does give you a great pint of Courage Directors.”
The new Directors kit will only be available through retailers and independents.
Munton’s has also added a Honey Flavour Porter to the range of St Peters range of kits it produces in co-operation with the Suffolk based Brewery St Peters. Munton’s St Peters range already includes St Peters Cream Stout, St Peters Golden Ale, St Peters IPA and St Peters Ruby Red Ale.
“Both new kits give you a chance to brew great beer,” says Joanna Perry. “They add to the fantastic range of kits, for fans of every type of beer, from Muntons.”
