At this year’s Suffolk show a special award was presented to Graham Henderson to recognise his services to agriculture by the Suffolk Agricultural Association.
The special award was presented by Mr John Wall the President of the Suffolk Agricultural Association at the President’s garden within the Suffolk show grounds.
Graham Henderson has been involved in agriculture virtually all of his working life with a particular expertise in fertilisers honed over many years including a long period working for Shell. He expanded his portfolio in 1989 when he added grain trading to his talents by joining well known Suffolk agricultural merchanting business, CK Squirrell and Son Ltd at Bildeston as a director.
In 1991 CK Squirrell joined with Muntons of Stowmarket as part of their growing involvement in the supply chain and Grahams role developed into more varied management responsibilities but still heavily involved in fertiliser and grain, as well as eventually managing the Stowmarket site. Despite retiring in October 2006, Graham continued to trade grain and fertiliser as an agent for Muntons as well as other local agricultural businesses completing over 50 years of farming connections.
Alan Ridealgh, Managing Director of Muntons who attended the presentation ceremony said: “It was really pleasing to see Graham being recognised for his dedication and hard work, I know that this will have been a very proud moment for him.”
